Water vs Liquid
It is very easy to confuse liquids from water since water is a liquid and the term “liquid” also has something to do with water. Foremost, water is considered as a type of liquid since there are many liquids existing on the planet. In this connection, liquid is defined as a category that covers all matter that is not gaseous and not solid in nature. For example, oil is a liquid, blood can also be considered as liquid, and syrup is still in liquid form. All of these fall under the category of liquid and are, in fact, having some significant percentage of water in their respective compositions.
Chemically, water has molecules that are loosely bound with each other. That’s why it can take the form of the container it is being placed into. Compared to solids, the force of attraction between its molecules is just weak. It is composed of two atoms of hydrogen and one oxygen.
Water is also considered as the most plentiful compound on the surface of the Earth since it covers about 70% of the face of the planet. Moreover, water is naturally odorless, colorless, and tasteless. When one tastes something odd in tap water, most likely it is just the accompanying minerals that make it taste that way. Water is considered the most important natural resource around that is significant to the sustenance and formation of life. Water is used in food preparations, vegetation, the manufacturing of beverages, and many other functions.
It is also said that water can be classified into two divisions depending on its deuterium content. The water that has a lower deuterium is called light water while the one that has a higher content is termed as heavy water. Other characteristics of water include: a boiling point of 99.98 or about 100 degrees centigrade, and a freezing point of zero degrees Celsius.
Liquid is just one of the several states of matter. Along with solids and gas, liquid is the middle phase with regard to the phases of water change (from ice, to melted ice, and then to water vapor). A solid ice cube becomes water because of melting. Melted water turns to water vapor because of evaporation. Other forms of liquids are used for very specialized functions such as a form of medicine, powerful solvent, effective lubricant, and coolant.
