Difference Between Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3

Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 are both game gaming consoles. These are machines used by gaming people that play video games, connect televisions, store data, etc. This has many features, but the difference lies in many parts.

Nintendo Wii has 1595 games along with 369 exclusive games. Nintendo Wii aims for an exclusive interaction with the players. This focuses more on the motion and uniqueness in interaction. The games here are seen to be more casual, but not all are.

Sony PlayStation 3 is seen to have 772 games with 8 exclusive games. The main focus of the Sony PlayStation 3 is muscle power. The hardware and the hard drive is seen to be very powerful in this and weaker in Nintendo Wii.

The main difference between Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 is that one is more focused on motion and in making games fun for everyone while the other is focused on high-level gaming with powerful hardware.

Nintendo Wii control is given along with it with great motion. It is much lesser in price with a thinner, shorter and lighter body. Nintendo Wii has along with a wireless controller, is lighter than Sony PlayStation 3. The backward capability of the Nintendo Wii is much better.

Sony PlayStation 3, on the other, developed a motion controller which is much better in motion called Move but has to be bought separately. Along with such a high price, adding more amount in it for the controller makes it very difficult for tight budget players. But pro-people always have chosen this due to its high capabilities in hardware and storage.

What is Nintendo Wii?

Nintendo Wii is a game console and is a product of the Nintendo company. Nintendo Wii was released on November 19 of 2006. This is an amazingly compact system with an advanced built-in gaming system. This has less hardware storage, so it is made with external hardware development connections.

Nintendo Wii focuses more on the demographic features of the game with a stand-alone vertical system and extra hardware features. With a large slot on the front to insert a game, we also see that as this is installed externally, we get the option of the connecting game on a large screen.

Nintendo Wii consists of a motion-sensing Wii Remote Controller, which is associated with the system and is used by handheld pointing towards the device. This also detects motion sensing technologies and detects movements in three dimensions. 

There are more features like Virtual Console or pre-defined sensing technologies, which further helps in many things like online downloads, updating games available and emulating games. Nintendo Wii also has features of wireless connection with Nintendo DS. We also see a feature of notification of new updates 24/7 over the internet, even when it is in stand by mode. 

What is Sony PlayStation 3?

Sony PlayStation 3 is also a game console and is produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. Sony PlayStation 3 was released on November 11 of 2006, just a few days before Nintendo Wii was released. This is mainly famous as a home video game console and is a part of the PlayStation 2 series. 

Sony Play station 3 supports Blue-ray Disk, which is one of the features which is absent in Nintendo Wii. In primary storage, it uses Blue-ray Disk and is the first console system to use it. Sony Play station 3 supports features like the PlayStation network and online gaming services. 

We also see the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita along with all other features. This is highly known to support all kinds of digital amusements with all kinds of updated and latest hardware technologies. It consists of the Logitech Driving Force GT, The Logitech Cordless, the wireless Six-axis and the Dual Shock 3 controller. 

It also includes developed accessories like the BD Remote, the PlayStation Eye camera and the play TV DVB -T tuner/digital video recorder. Through this technology, users can download games and even browse movies. The graphic processor is 550 MHz which is almost double the Nintendo Wii.

Main Differences Between Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3

  • Nintendo Wii supports the Game Cube and Wii games, while on the other hand, Sony PlayStation 3 supports all kinds of games and digital entertainment.
  • Nintendo Wii is backwards compatible with the games of Nintendo Game Cube, but for Sony PlayStation 3, it is compatible only with selected types of games.
  • Nintendo Wii has a version further known as Nintendo Wii Mini, and Sony PlayStation 3 have further a version called PlayStation 3 Slim.
  • Nintendo Wii is less powerful when compared to Sony PlayStation 3 in the field of efficiency.
  • In the case of Hardware and Storage, Nintendo Wii is seen to be left behind by Sony PlayStation.
  • The computer processor of the Nintendo Wii is 729 MHz, while for Sony PlayStation 3, we get 3.2 GHz which is also a big difference. 
  • The resolution of the Nintendo Wii is seen to range up to 480p while Sony PlayStation 3 can range up to1080p.

    Every product has its fields and features, which also makes them unique. Both Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 have their uniqueness and strong points, which have made them one of the most compatible consoles in the market. Though both are opponents of each other, one has its features to beat one other.

    For Nintendo Wii, we see motion, a large number of games and other features, which creates a strong point along with the expression that anyone can easily play it. For Sony PlayStation 3, we see more power and storage and other facilities making a strong ground for it to stand. Each product should be taken into consideration only by acknowledging the needs first.
