MBA

This term stands for Master of Business Administration and is one of the most studied around the world. It was first originated from the United States when the industry started to grow, and companies needed more people to help them grow the business. The main aim of these organizations was to develop individuals who can not only assist in expanding but also look at the management side of the things by providing new and scientific approaches towards the industry. The main requirement for doing an MBA is to have a BBA degree, which stands for Bachelors of Business Administration. But that is not the core requirement, many universities now offer courses for people who have no prior business experience and even the ones who belong to the engineering side of the things. They have to study a longer degree of around 2.5 years as compared to the actual students who can finish it even in one year. During the course of the studies, people cover subjects that are closely related to the things they will have to do in the industry. The topics can include accounting, finance, management, human resource, operations, mathematics, project management and even political science. It is also available in wide ranges such as studying it on part time basis, people can also enroll for it during the evening times while distance learning is also provided. There are different types of MBA which are being offered to students from various fields of living and therefore it is one of the most valuable degrees in the world today.

MMS

This term stands for Master of Management Studies and is a degree which has originated from India. It is similar to the Master of Business Administration but a few exceptions. The course lasts for two years and can be studied by people who do not have any prior knowledge of the course and have no industry experience. While an MBA degree can help individuals gain some practical experience, the MMS provides persons with the theoretical knowledge of the things so that they can develop a base for further studies. The length of the course can vary and some universities might provide one-year programs while other two years but the credit hours of the degree have to be at a standard level. People who have some knowledge and practical experience can fast track their degree and can complete it in a year, they also have the offer of distance learning if they are currently working. There is also the opportunity for people who have more experience in the industry and for them a degree similar to the Executive Master of Business Administration is available where they can refresh their skills to a higher level. This program is approved by All India Council for Technical Education and is not available around the world. The fact that it is just unique to India means it does not have global recognition and therefore is not as famous. It also has some solid practical content for students though most of it is theory and if someone wants to join an industry without having to work then, this degree can suit them.
