What is Google Fi?

Formerly Project Fi, this is a telecommunications service provided by google. Among the services, it provides include SMS, telephone calls, cellular networks, Wi-Fi and broadband, available on wireless smartphones services. It was launched on April 22, 2015, and opened to the public on 7 March 2016. It is available in the United States of America, with over 200 roaming in international destinations services.

Depending on signal speed and strength, Google Fi automatically switches between networks. Through an automatic VPN with encryption, Google Fi automatically connects to hotspots and Wi-Fi. Phone calls are also able to transition between cellular and Wi-Fi networks.  Normally, it costs $20 per month for unlimited messaging and calls and a data allowance costing $10 per gigabyte. Amounts spent on any unused data is credited back to the user’s account. It also has a group plan which costs $15 per user per month.

What is Xfinity Mobile?

Founded by Dave Watson, Dana Strong, and Mathew Strauss, and later launched on April 2017, Xfinity Mobile is a wireless carrier brand, providing two wireless plan options including the pay-as-you-go as well as the unlimited data plan. iPhone users also have the choice to bring their own devices.  It operates as a mobile virtual network operator, hence allowing the company to leverage the Verizon Wireless network.
