Difference between Cute and Sweet

Key difference:  The adjectives cute and sweet reflect the pleasant feeling about something. Usually they are synonyms of each other, but cute is used when a person feels attractive, while sweet is used to reflect the pleasant feeling and delightfulness.

Cute is just the pure beauty with sweetness and kindness. In fact, it is not necessary that a cute person must have highly attractive features with splendid beauty, however, purity, sweetness and simplicity is the criteria of calling a person “cute”. It expresses the quality of appreciation and belovedness regarding anything. It is also used to express the cunning nature of an individual. If someone is trying to take advantage of something, they act cute in such a manner, that people won’t be able to deny or negotiate with them. 

According to Oxford Dictionary ‘cute’ is defined as:

“attractive in a pretty or endearing way”.

The word ‘sweet’ is usually used to express the positiveness of a being. It generally reflects the taste, but in feelings, it is used to express the deep delightness, full of involvement and completion. The word basically is derived from sugar, as the sugar is the sweetest of all the ingredients, and reduces the bitterness, the same function that the word performs regarding feelings. It is used to express the deep feeling regarding any appreciable effect.

According to Oxford Dictionary ‘sweet’ is defined as:

“pleasing in general; delightful”.
